Belyea Company Inc. is an Associate Member of the National Electrial Testing Association.

Belyea Company Inc. is a charter member of the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League.

Belyea buys, refurbishes and resells major pieces of electrical power equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, generators and turbines. The company works extensively with the electrical utility industry assisting in the divestiture of generators and turbines. Belyea has the largest inventory of recycled circuit breakers in the United States and more than 20,000 pieces of electrical equipment at its 150,000 square foot facility. In addition, the company rents 500 KVA to 427000 KVA mobile transformers to customers who need to replace major transformers for a limited time.

Belyea’s professional engineering team adapts electrical power equipment to meet the needs of clients, allowing them to get on line more quickly than is possible with new equipment. For example, Belyea successfully moved a 67-megawatt power plant from Hazleton, PA to Patagonia, Argentina, converting the system from 60-cycle to 50-cycle power

In addition to buying electrical power equipment, Belyea Company provides asset evaluation and liquidation; appraisal of electrical power equipment; emergency relief from blackouts; custom electrical power solutions utilizing brands such as General Electric, Westinghouse and ABB; and access to hard-to-find brands such as Allis Chalmers and Federal Pacific.

Belyea Company, Inc. began in a small storefront on 18th Street in Manhattan, NY, retrofitting foot pedal sewing machines for the garment industry. It later moved into the electrical power equipment field, working with Thomas Alva Edison. The company relocated to 31 Howell St., Jersey City, NJ in 1938 and shifted its focus to large motor generators to support the war effort. In the 1950s, Belyea concentrated on steam generation applications for sugar mills in Cuba. The company became the exclusive agent for the Puerto Rico Water Resources Authority from 1975 to 1980, liquidating millions of dollars worth of equipment. This led to Belyea’s work with gas turbines and power generation equipment as well as substation power equipment.
